OCRMI Ultra-Short Radon Test $70 Included in all Armada Home Inspections

In the time it takes to complete a home inspection, the OCRMI ultra-short radon test will provide you with an indication of a possible defect to the home that allows radon entry and possible build-up. A 3-month or longer test is ideal for identifying the average long-term exposure to radon levels but is useless as part of a real-estate transaction.  An OntarioACHI Certified Radon Measurement Inspector (OCRMI) can perform an ultra- short test that identifies the potential in a home for radon infiltration.  This allows vendors and purchasers alike to come to an agreement prior to the purchase closing on how the problem is to be dealt with.

The test results will be known immediately when the home inspection is completed and will be included in the inspection report as well.

48 Hour Real Estate Test – $200

This test normally utilizes 1 test device. Large homes with multiple heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems shall require a second test device with an additional fee of $100 added.

In Real Estate, a quicker indication of a Radon concentration in a home is required in order to accommodate the transaction process.  For this reason, a short-term radon test can be performed (2-3 days). The purpose of this test is to identify the existence of Radon and that there are conditions which are allowing Radon to enter

Test results will be indicated by GREEN – at or below 75 Bq/m3, AMBER – between 75 Bq/m3 and 250 Bq/m3, RED – measurement above 250 Bq/m3.

Short Term Radon Test – $200

A short term test takes 7 days to complete.

This test normally utilizes 1 test device. Large homes with multiple heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems shall require a second test device with an additional fee of $100 added.

Test results will be indicated by GREEN – at or below 75 Bq/m3, AMBER – between 75 Bq/m3 and 250 Bq/m3, RED – measurement above 250 Bq/m3.

Long Term Radon Test – $200

A long term test takes a minimum of 90-150 days to complete. It is highly recommended that this test be completed during the winter months (heating season), between October and April.

Long term test results are required before any Radon related claim can be made against the Tarion home warranty program.

Test results gathered over a longer period of time will provide more accurate daily averages results and will provide a much better estimate of a persons annual average exposure. If high levels of radon are in your house, you can take steps to remove it. But the single, most important, first step in this process is getting your home tested.
